Jade / Portrait Shoot / Kite Beach, Dubai

Oh, the joy that is in meeting new people! I love travelling for mainly this reason; that you are bound to meet new people and make new friends.

Jade is one of the new people I have met while in Dubai, and you will be able to tell for yourself why I wanted her in front of my camera.

We were supposed to shoot at Kite Beach, but we got lost due to the road works happening for the canal that is underway. I do not know which beach we ended up getting to, but the Burj Khalifa was in sight so I did not feel bad about being lost. I took my camera out and started with a few test shots, and got the fight of my life!

It is not a kind thing to make a photographer think there is something wrong with her equipment…and Dubai’s weather played that trick on me. The humidity caused condensation on my lens and the photo above is the result. To my heart’s relief, it was an easy fix and our shoot could continue.

Jade is a South African, born in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and is currently waiting to start university in Holland. She adores animals and being in nature, as well as music and sports. (I know that Jade spends a lot of her time in the gym)! Her family is her number one priority and she has learnt to appreciate all that life has to offer her.

Jade’s role model is her mother who she says “is still a person and still makes mistakes, yet she is always able to give me the support and courage I need.” Jade aspires to be a person who can help people less fortunate than herself. She gets satisfaction from making a big difference in the lives of other people.

Jade lives by the motto of, “You decide every moment of every day who you are and what you believe in. You’re the only one responsible for your life.” Jade is pursuing a career in physiotherapy – staying true to these words as she decides to help people and make her family proud.

Some of Jade’s major life goals are to travel the world and have a family of her own. This is where I realised that Jade and I have a lot in common. To top that off, Jade and I are both “foodies” with a strong sweet tooth!

It has been incredible getting to know Jade, and I hope the best for her as she embarks on all her pursuits to achieve her goals!
